Rookwood Pupils Celebrate as GCSE Results Released

Rookwood School pupils celebrate their GCSE 2017 results

There was much to celebrate at Rookwood School today (Thursday 24th August) thanks to 2017’s GCSE results.

The school celebrated as 91% of students gained five or more A*- C or 9-4 grades with half the grades being B or above.

Among the many successes were Gareth Brooker, Aimee Antonius, Jacob Culley-Wilson and Joshua Wilson who all gained 9 or more A*/A or 9-7 grades.

Student Gareth Brooker said “I felt a great sense of relief opening my results to see that my hard work has payed off. Thank you to all of my teachers for their support, I am really grateful.”

Aimee Antonius was also happy with her results. “I am very pleased with my results today and I cannot wait to start at Peter Symonds in September where I will be studying Biology, Sport and Psychology” she said.

Rookwood School has a well-deserved reputation for its nurturing and supportive atmosphere – an approach that has led to continued academic success for this non-selective school.

Headmaster, Dr Mark Whalley, commented “I am really proud of all of our Year Eleven pupils. They have all worked incredibly hard and truly deserve their great results.”

“I am particularly pleased with how well our students have managed the new, more demanding GCSE courses and exams in Mathematics, English Language and English Literature. Their achievements have been underpinned by the hard work and dedication of our staff and I would like to thank them all for all they do to support our pupils.”

Finally, I would like to wish our students every success as they move forward to new challenges. They leave Rookwood as confident, resilient and principled young adults and I have no doubt they will continue to grow and flourish.”
