Sainsbury’s recall croissants over possible nut allergy issue

Sainsbury’s is recalling in store bakery all butter croissants because they contain almond filling which is not declared on the packaging.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to nuts.

The products affected are the “In store bakery all butter croissant” (EAN 6543827) and “In store bakery all butter croissant 2 pack” (EAN 6542882) with the ‘best before’ codes up to and including 26 September 2018.

A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s said “It has been brought to our attention that a small number of packs may contain almond which is not declared on the pack.

As a precautionary measure, we are asking customers who have purchased these products, and have an allergy or intolerance to almond to return them to their nearest Sainsbury’s store, where they will receive a full refund.

No other products are affected by this issue, and we apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.”
