Radio Competition Winner Donates to Local Sporting Trust

Andover Radio’s competition ‘The Secret Sound’ has finally been won, after almost 3 months of the annoying sound being guessed incorrectly.

Mel from Augusta Park guessed correctly, which was twisting a salt grinder. The winning guess was on Friday the 25th October 2019.

There was also another winner as Mel wanted to donate the winnings to the Jamie G Sporting Trust, the kind gesture was accepted by trustee and chairman of The Jamie G Sporting Trust, Tommy Gentleman.

On receiving the cheque Tommy told Andover Radio “This is such an amazing contribution and thank you Mel”.

The Jamie G Sporting Trust has raised over £180,000 in 10 years. The Trust has provided a controlled distribution of funds to sports clubs for the youth in the Andover area. This financial support has provided assistance in the training of talented individuals, by the provision of equipment and facilities directly to the clubs or support for coach training to further enhance the quality of training the clubs can provide.

The competition which began on the 9th of September had accumulated hundreds of phone calls with only select few getting through, was Andover Radio’s first cash competition and was sponsored by Moores Cleaning.

Andover Radio Director Ben Tuffin said “What a great competition the Secret Sound was, and what a great gesture from Mel in donating the money. Two winners have come from this. I know all the brilliant work The Jaime G Sporting Trust do and aim to achieve and this contribution from one of our listeners is brilliant news“.
