South West Trains have advised rail users over train delays between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction due to an earlier points failure at London Waterloo as some lines are disrupted.
South West Trains released the following information:
What’s Going On:
Train services running to and from this station may be cancelled, delayed by up to 45 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until 15:00 08/08.
What We’re Doing About It:
The fault on some sets of points (tracks which move and act as a junction, allowing trains to move from one line to another) at London Waterloo has now been rectified. This means that platforms 11 to 15 can now be used normally again.
As platforms 1 to 10 were already closed due to planned works, the closure of 5 additional platforms has caused severe delays. To ease congestion and to return the service to normal, some short notice alterations will be necessary.
– Trains which normally run between Exeter St Davids and London Waterloo will only run between Exeter St Davids and Basingstoke. Where possible, these trains will continue to Reading.
You may use your ticket to travel on Great Western Services between Basingstoke and Reading, as well as between Reading and London Paddington. You may travel between London Paddington and London Waterloo on the Bakerloo Line.
