BY MARIE PONTING

July is now upon us, how was your solstice, what did you do to celebrate? I had every intention of waking early to catch the sunrise on the longest day however it was not to happen.

Instead of being disheartened with myself my family and I went to watch sunset instead, and oh were we in for a treat. We sat on Coombe Gibbet hill watching and my son said to me ‘mummy look at the face in the clouds’ and sure enough, there was a face, I believe it was Goddess watching the sunset on her beautiful land. It was a truly magical experience.

Full moon is a few days away and this month it is the Buck moon, its called the Buck moon as its the time of year that the antlers of the buck are in full growth – fascinating.

Now is the perfect time to release emotions and thoughts that no longer serve you, grief, shame, guilt, I’m not good enough, all of those that hinder us on our journey of healing. Its also a great time to get your energies balanced. We have many energy points over our bodies called chakras, however there are 7 main ones that its beneficial to balance.

Starting at the root chakra Mulhadra, working up the spine to Svadisthana the sacral chakra, Manipura the solar plexus chakra, up to Anahata the heart chakra, moving into the throat chakra, Vishudda, over the Ajna the brow chakra and upto Sahasrara the crown chakra the the crown of your head. Many many things can cause blockages in your energy, situations, trauma, negative thoughts and emotions. Unblocking them so the energy can move freely is a powerful healing experience and I would recommend this to anyone feeling like they’re stuck somehow.

Now might also be a good time to think about how you are going to celebrate Lammas, Lughnasadh in the Celtic tradition, this is the festival in the wheel of the year to bless the first fruits of harvest on the 1st August, it’s also known as loaf mass day. In Greek mythology Adonis was the god of grain and rebirth

Have a blessed July.
