Spitfire’s 90th Anniversary to Headline Hampshire Air Festival

The Hampshire Air Festival is set to take flight on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September 2026 at Thruxton Aerodrome, promising a spectacular weekend celebrating “The Age of Flight”.

The two-day event, which aims to become a staple of the UK’s aviation and family events calendar, will showcase more than a century of airborne innovation and entertainment.

Visitors can expect an immersive journey through aviation history, beginning with the pioneering aircraft of the Great War and moving through to iconic Warbirds, including the legendary Spitfire—celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2026. The programme will also feature thrilling formation aerobatics and the raw power of modern fast jets, with display teams performing across both days.

Adding to the excitement, the festival will host a special ‘Age of Flight Extravaganza’ on the Saturday evening. This dramatic after-dark spectacle will see the skies above Thruxton illuminated with pyrotechnic aerial displays, a choreographed light show, illuminated drone formations, music, and a fireworks finale.

Organisers say their vision is simple: to create an event that feels truly special—one that families and aviation enthusiasts will return to year after year. Businesses are also being encouraged to get involved, with a range of sponsorship and advertising opportunities available.

Those looking to attend are urged to save the dates and register their interest at www.hampshireairfestival.co.uk.
