Strathmore Veterinary Clinic in Andover has been forced to temporarily disrupt some of its services following an ongoing power cut, leaving staff unable to access patient records or safely carry out certain consultations.
The veterinary practice, which provides care for cats, dogs and rabbits in Andover, has been experiencing electrical problems throughout Friday (23 October), affecting its ability to operate as normal.
In an initial announcement, the clinic explained that the loss of power had prevented staff from accessing essential patient information, meaning some appointments and the dispensing of medication could not safely take place.
The clinic said: “Unfortunately we have had a power cut at the clinic, we are trying hard to rectify it but whilst the power is out we do not have any access to our patient records and therefore cannot safely conduct all types of consultations or dispense any medications.”
As a temporary measure, telephone calls were diverted to an emergency line, with pet owners who had appointments booked for Friday afternoon encouraged to contact the practice if they wished to rearrange.
Emergency Veterinary Care Redirected to Salisbury
In a further update issued approximately two hours after the initial announcement, Strathmore confirmed that electricity had still not been restored.
With the disruption continuing, the practice announced that its out-of-hours emergency veterinary service would temporarily be transferred to Vets Now in Salisbury to ensure animals requiring urgent medical attention could continue to receive appropriate care.
The clinic stated: “Unfortunately, we still have no power here at Strathmore. Due to this, and for the safety of our patients, the out of hours service will temporarily be directed to Vets Now, Salisbury.”
The team also apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their continued patience.
Pet Owners Advised to Check Before Attending
The disruption means pet owners requiring veterinary assistance are advised to contact Strathmore Veterinary Clinic before travelling to the practice, particularly if they have a scheduled appointment or need medication.
Those requiring urgent veterinary assistance outside normal opening hours should follow the temporary arrangements directing emergency cases to Vets Now in Salisbury.
Strathmore Veterinary Clinic is part of the Inspiring Vet Care family and provides a range of veterinary services to pet owners across Andover and the surrounding area.
At the time of the clinic’s latest update, power had not been restored, and no estimated time had been given for normal services to resume.
Further updates are expected from the practice as staff work to resolve the disruption.
