Andover New Street Youth football teams have had much to celebrate last weekend, as three of their teams clinched important victories in their respective finals.
On Saturday, the U8s played in their very first Lyon Vase Final and emerged victorious, handling the pressure and excitement of their first final with great composure. The boys have certainly set the bar high and are expected to put up another winning performance in their next final scheduled for May.
Not to be left behind, the U9s continued the winning streak for the club as they emerged winners in their Cup Final on Saturday. The team was cheered on by their parents and other supporters, and the boys did not disappoint, playing a fantastic game to claim the cup. The team capped off their victory with a well-deserved celebratory meal at McDonald’s.
On Sunday, the U13 Vixens took to the field to fight for the Plate in the Hampshire Girls Youth Football League. The game was a bittersweet one, as it came only three months after the loss of their coach, Jon Baxter. However, the girls played with a professionalism and calmness that would have made their coach proud. They put up a great fight and emerged victorious, with Jon’s spirit undoubtedly spurring them on.
The Andover New Street Youth football teams have certainly had an amazing weekend, and their achievements have not gone unnoticed. The club is proud of their players and coaches and wishes them all the best in their future endeavors.
