Andover-based tea pioneers Twinings are joining forces with homelessness charity Alabaré for this year’s BIG Sleep at Stonehenge, taking place on Friday 14 November.

The overnight fundraising event will see around 200 supporters braving the cold to raise awareness and vital funds for Alabaré’s work helping veterans, young people, and vulnerable adults facing homelessness.
Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans programme provides supported living for former military personnel across the South West and Wales, helping them rebuild their lives through safe housing, mental health support, and pathways to independence.
Michelle Woods, from Twinings in Andover, is leading the company’s team at the event. She said the team wanted to show solidarity with those experiencing homelessness and highlight the challenges veterans face when transitioning to civilian life.
“We’re doing this not just for the experience, but to stand in solidarity with people who face the harsh reality of homelessness every night.
“Alabaré provides vital support to veterans, young people, and vulnerable adults who are at risk of homelessness. Being a veteran myself, it’s a cause that is close to my heart. One night out in the cold doesn’t compare to the daily struggle many are facing, but it’s our way of saying: we see you, we care, and we want to help.”
The Twinings team has already raised more than £1,500 for Alabaré in just a few days. Supporters can contribute through their JustGiving page:

Alabaré’s James Tomlinson said the partnership is a perfect example of how local businesses can make a difference.
“It’s a pleasure to welcome the team from Twinings to join us for the BIG Sleep at Stonehenge.
“We’re grateful for their acts of kindness towards veterans facing homelessness and for championing a charity that supports their local community.
“We also recognise how powerful a cup of tea can be in bringing people together and as a catalyst for important conversations. A brew can be a moment of calm, a chance to reset, a reassurance in a crisis, or even a celebration – and with Twinings, we’re delighted to discover the art of tea while also breaking the cycle of homelessness.”
Places at the BIG Sleep Stonehenge are limited, and participants are encouraged to register early. Those taking part will be provided with bivvy bags and are asked to bring sleeping bags, roll mats, and warm clothing.
The event will include a sundown visit to the stone circle with the Cranborne Chase National Landscape Team and an exclusive sunrise experience for the top fundraisers.
