Two Arrested in Investigation Into Incident Near Hurstbourne Tarrant

Two people have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into an incident in which a man was struck by a vehicle near Hurstbourne Tarrant last October.

A 37-year-old man from Totton, who had previously been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, was this week re-arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice following new evidence.

A 60-year-old woman, also from Totton, was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. Both individuals have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

The investigation follows an incident reported to police at 11.09pm on Thursday 24 October 2024. Officers were called to Netherton Road, near Hurstbourne Tarrant, to what was initially described as a suspected poaching incident.

On arrival, police found a man in his 50s with serious injuries. It was reported that the victim had attempted to confront a group of men he had seen in a field. The group reportedly got into a vehicle, which then struck the man before being driven away from the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries. He has since been discharged.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 44240464242.
