Primary School Offers Confirmed for Hampshire Families

Hampshire County Council has confirmed school place offers for over 20,000 children set to start school this September, with the vast majority of families securing a spot at one of their preferred schools.

For Reception Year (Year R) admissions, more than 98% of parents received an offer for one of their three preferred schools, and over 92% were allocated their first choice.

The picture is even stronger for children moving from infant to junior school (Year 3), with more than 99% offered one of their three preferences and over 99% gaining a place at their top choice.

In cases where a preferred school wasn’t available, children were offered a place at either their catchment school or the nearest school with space. Parents in these situations have been advised of their right to appeal and placed on waiting lists where applicable. Spaces can still become available due to changes in circumstances such as families moving house or switching preferences.

Parents who applied online have already been notified via email and can log into the County Council’s secure admissions portal to view their offer. Those who applied by post and didn’t provide an email address should receive their letters within a few days.

A helpful set of Frequently Asked Questions is now available on the Hampshire Admissions webpages to support parents with the next steps.

This includes guidance on school transport assistance, which may be available to eligible families. The application deadline for this support is 31 May.
