A man from Andover remains in hospital with life-threatening head injuries following a serious assault in the town.
Emergency services were called to London Street in the early hours of Thursday, January 1, where officers found a man in his 40s who had suffered severe injuries. He was taken to hospital for urgent treatment.
Police temporarily sealed off the area while initial investigations were carried out. Although the cordon has now been removed, enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
A 36-year-old man from Chesterfield, Derbyshire, has since been arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of attempted wounding with intent.
