Andover M&S will close next month

Marks and Spencer in Andover

Marks and Spencer have today made the decision to close the Andover store on Saturday 21st April.

Aaron Spicer, Head of Region for Wessex, said: “Proposing to close the store was a difficult but necessary decision. Over the past few weeks we’ve been consulting with our colleagues and, following this rigorous process, the decision has been made to close the store on 21st April.

We’d like to thank our customers for the feedback they’ve given the team and we hope to see lots of them continuing to shop at our other stores in Hampshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire, as well as on M&S.com.”

Staff at the branch have been informed.

  • Following the announcement, leader of Test Valley Borough Council Phil North commented, “It is extremely disappointing that M&S have chosen to close their current store before opening up a ‘food presence’ in Andover, which they reiterated their desire to retain at our recent meeting.

“They have suggested that they would be able to sublet their existing store to a High Street multiple and I have pledged TVBC’s help to facilitate occupation by an attractive new tenant as soon as possible.”
