Andover Musical Theatre Company brings The Great British Bake Off Musical to The Lights

The nation’s favourite tent is coming to Andover this November, when Andover Musical Theatre Company (AMTC) presents The Great British Bake Off Musical at The Lights from Wednesday 11 to Saturday 14 November 2026.

Inspired by the much-loved TV series, this heart-warming and hilarious musical follows eight amateur bakers through one season in the tent, juggling rivalries, romances and the odd baking disaster. Presiding over proceedings are judges Pam Lee and Phil Hollinghurst, played by Rebecca Rungen and Martin Lambert; a pairing that Bake Off fans may find strangely familiar, while presenters Kim and Jim, played by Chloe Donovan and Laura Bean, are on hand to keep spirits high. Packed with original songs and plenty of laughs, it’s a feel-good night out whether you’re a keen baker, cake lover, or musical theatre enthusiast.

AMTC has been performing in Andover for more than 60 years and remains a central part of the town’s community. This production brings together over 40 performers from Andover and the surrounding area, with adult members ranging in age from 18 to 70.

The show, sponsored by Burbidges Bakery, is directed by Claire Nias, with her husband Eddie Nias as Producer, overseeing the set and visual elements that bring the famous tent to life on stage. Their son Will is also treading the boards, stepping out from behind the lighting desk to take on a lead role as student Hassan.

Several members are also stepping into the spotlight, making their debut in lead roles, a testament to the opportunities that come with being part of a group like AMTC, where performers can hone their skills in acting, singing and dancing, and grow in confidence with every production.

Making a special appearance is 15-year-old Amelia Croft, who plays Lily. Amelia has come up through the ranks of Starlights, AMTC’s Youth Theatre, whose members also occasionally get the chance to perform alongside the adult company in main AMTC productions, a brilliant way to gain experience on a bigger stage. This is Amelia’s third production with the main company, following Fiddler on the Roof and The Sound of Music.

Behind the scenes, AMTC’s volunteer committee has worked tirelessly to bring the show to the stage, as it does for every production the company puts on, ensuring what the audience experiences is a high quality production akin to the West End, at a fraction of the price.
