Andover Town FC played a pre-season friendly on Saturday 15th July when they met Downton FC at Sparsholt College.
Andover Town 4-1 Downton (Friendly)
After a goalless first half the following faithful must have wondered if goals were ever coming with many chances missed although at the other end, Andover’s defence contained Downton to just a couple of opportunities and Kieran McHardy in goal was rarely troubled.
However, as with pre-season friendlies Andover made the usual substitutions and it seemed to pay off with the opposition defence stretched and finally the goals came.
After a goal-mouth scramble, Ross Gregory headed home before new signing Jason Silver found the net to put Andover 2-0 up.
Downton managed to pull one back with a goal that was beyond keeper Lloyd Thomas before Edu put the score at 3-1.
The match was put beyond doubt when Jason Silver got his second to make the score a respectable 4-1 win.
Andover’s next game is on Tuesday 18th July at The Portway Stadium against Salisbury.
