Andover Town Council Welcomes New Mayor and Deputy Mayor

Andover Town Council has officially welcomed a new Town Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the 2026/27 civic year following its Annual Full Council meeting held on 20 May.

Councillor Tony Burley has been appointed as the new Town Mayor, while Councillor Joseph Hughes will take on the role of Deputy Town Mayor for the year ahead.

In a statement following the appointments, Andover Town Council congratulated both councillors and highlighted the experience and dedication they bring to their new positions.

A spokesperson for the council said the pair would play an important role in supporting the local community and representing the town throughout the coming civic year.

Speaking after being confirmed as Mayor, Cllr Burley said he was looking forward to meeting residents, businesses, and community groups across Andover, while promoting the town during his term in office.

He also thanked fellow councillors for placing their confidence in him and said he was honoured to take on the role.

Cllr Hughes will assist the Mayor in carrying out civic duties and supporting engagements and events across the town over the next 12 months.

The council also recognised the contribution of the outgoing Mayor, thanking them for their commitment and service to the community during their time in office.

Andover Town Council said it is looking forward to a positive and productive year under the leadership of Cllr Burley and the support of Cllr Hughes.
