An Andover volunteer has been selected to represent the UK as part of an international team helping to deliver one of the biggest events in world Scouting.

Oliver Webster, from Andover, has been chosen to join the International Service Team at the 26th World Scout Jamboree, which will take place in Gdańsk, Poland, in 2027.
The World Scout Jamboree is held every four years and brings together young people and volunteers from countries around the world for an international celebration of Scouting, friendship and adventure.
More than 50,000 Scouts are expected to gather in Poland in 2027, with young people aged between 14 and 17 given the opportunity to experience different cultures, take part in outdoor activities and build friendships with fellow Scouts from across the globe.
Oliver will be among 600 UK volunteers selected to help deliver the Jamboree.
As a member of the International Service Team, he will work alongside volunteers from around the world to support the running of the event. Roles within the team can include delivering outdoor activities, supporting cultural exchanges and helping with large-scale events.
Oliver said: “I am honoured to have been selected for the International Service Team at the World Scout Jamboree.
“This is a unique opportunity to support an event that brings together young people from around the world, and I look forward to helping create an unforgettable experience for all participants.”
The Jamboree will give those attending the chance to experience Poland’s culture and traditions while promoting international friendship and the skills developed through Scouting.
Chief Scout Dwayne Fields congratulated Oliver and the other volunteers selected to represent the UK.
He said: “Congratulations to Oliver and all the UK volunteers heading to the World Scout Jamboree in Poland. Opportunities like this are what Scouting is all about, bringing people together, building confidence, and showing young people what’s possible when they step outside their comfort zone.
“The Jamboree is more than an event, it’s a chance to connect with the world, to learn from different cultures, and to come back inspired to make a difference at home. I’ve no doubt they will grab this experience with both hands and make the most of every moment.”
The 26th World Scout Jamboree will be held in Gdańsk in 2027, bringing together Scouts from across the world for an international programme focused on friendship, adventure, culture and global citizenship.
