Big hair, bold fashion and the unmistakable sound of the 1980s are heading to Abbotts Ann this November, as Andover Music Awards finalists Weird Science prepare to bring a decade of legendary music back to life.
Forget the streaming playlists and digital downloads. On Friday 13 November, Abbotts Ann War Memorial Hall is turning back the clock for Back to the 80s, an evening dedicated to the decade that gave the world some of pop and rock’s biggest anthems.
And providing the soundtrack? Weird Science, the 80s tribute band who recently earned themselves a place among the finalists for Best Band at the inaugural 2026 Andover Music Awards.
From the infectious energy of 80s pop to the guitar-driven anthems that defined a generation, the band will be bringing the sounds, style and spirit of the decade to the stage for a night that promises to be anything but ordinary.

A Decade That Refuses to Grow Old
The 1980s weren’t exactly known for doing things quietly.
It was the era of outrageous hairstyles, shoulder pads, synthesiser-driven pop and rock anthems built to fill stadiums. MTV transformed the music industry, while artists such as Madonna, Prince, Bon Jovi, Duran Duran and Whitney Houston helped create a soundtrack that continues to dominate dancefloors more than four decades later.
And that’s precisely the magic Weird Science are looking to capture.
With their authentic tribute to the decade, the band have built a reputation for celebrating the music that made the 80s unforgettable, delivering the kind of live experience where standing still simply isn’t an option.
Their recent recognition at the Andover Music Awards, where they were named among the three finalists for Best Band, underlined their growing presence on the local live music scene.
Now they’re preparing to bring that same energy to Abbotts Ann.

Dig Out the Neon and Get Ready to Dance
This isn’t an evening for sitting quietly in the corner.
Organisers are encouraging music fans to embrace everything that made the 1980s so gloriously over the top. Think neon colours, leg warmers, leather jackets and enough hairspray to make an entire decade proud.
Whether it’s reliving the soundtrack of your teenage years or discovering why the music of the 80s continues to inspire new generations, Back to the 80s promises an evening packed with nostalgia, singalong moments and plenty of opportunities to hit the dancefloor.
For Weird Science, it’s another opportunity to demonstrate why the music of the decade remains such a powerful force in live entertainment.
After all, fashions come and go, musical trends change, and technology moves on. But a great song? That never gets old.
