International mind reader and psychological illusionist Alex McAleer is heading to Andover next week for an evening of psychological illusion, sharp humour and astonishing audience interaction.

Alex McAleer: Mind Reader comes to The Lights on Wednesday 14 October at 8pm, with tickets priced at just £15.
Described as slick, funny and unnervingly accurate, McAleer’s live show combines contemporary mentalism with an expert understanding of human behaviour, natural charisma and a mischievous sense of humour.
During the performance, audiences can expect McAleer to predict choices, reveal private thoughts and uncover meaningful moments from people’s pasts – all without relying on the traditional trappings of a magic show.
From revealing the name of a childhood best friend to guiding an entire audience through a shared psychological experience, audience participation is at the heart of the show, meaning no two performances are ever quite the same.
McAleer has built an international career spanning the UK, Europe, United States, Canada and Australia after first developing a fascination with mentalism as a teenager.
For more than a decade, he toured internationally as part of the smash-hit production Champions of Magic, performing at major venues including London’s Hammersmith Apollo and Cleveland’s Palace Theatre.
His solo career has also seen him perform to packed audiences at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and enjoy sell-out runs in Australia, where he received a Cabaret Award nomination at Perth Fringe World.
McAleer has appeared on television around the world, including ITV’s Good Morning Britain, NBC’s Access Hollywood and Australia’s Today Tonight.
In 2019, he also achieved a childhood ambition when he appeared on Blue Peter, earning himself one of the programme’s famous Blue Peter badges.
Away from the stage, McAleer is an author and respected lecturer in mentalism, writing about performance techniques and delivering workshops for other performers, including at The Magic Circle in London.
His latest tour follows a successful UK run last autumn and promises something a little different for audiences at The Lights.
More than a conventional magic show, Alex McAleer: Mind Reader is built around funny, intimate and occasionally unsettling moments which aim to leave audiences wondering exactly how he did it.
Broadway World described McAleer as “mind-blowing”, while the Boston Globe said he had “made a career of those you’ve-got-to-be-kidding-me moments”.
The West Australian described him as “a master of the mind”, praising his cheeky and witty approach to working with an audience.
Alex McAleer: Mind Reader takes place at The Lights, Andover, on Wednesday 14 October at 8pm.
Tickets are just £15 and the show is suitable for ages 12 and over.
