This week marks the first month’s trading for the new Andover based Cardea home support service, established by Test Valley Community Services (TVCS) to help people who are struggling to remain at home or who perhaps are returning from hospital with little or no help available to them.

The staff team are busy out in the community spreading the word about the not for profit Cardea service which also has a pivotal role to play in enabling people to link to a range of community-based services run by TVCS already including Community Transport and Shopmobility.

TVCS Chairman, Dorothy Baverstock said  “The importance of the Cardea services cannot be underestimated.  People’s lives are becoming increasingly difficult and the next round of statutory cuts will mean even more people will struggle.  Our staff are already known and trusted in the community and Cardea will offer a lifeline to anyone who needs that little bit of help at home.

The home support service is only the first stage of the Cardea offer as TVCS are developing a domiciliary care arm too following the recruitment of a new staff member Lesley Shenton who has worked in Adult Services for several years and understands the needs of local people.
