Firefighters are currently tackling a blaze at the former Marks & Spencer building in Andover town centre, with emergency services urging members of the public to avoid the area.
Crews from Andover, Sutton Scotney and Winchester were called to the incident at approximately 3.15pm on Monday afternoon (12 October), following reports of smoke coming from the derelict building.
Police officers and firefighters attended the scene in Black Swan Yard, where smoke had been seen coming from the former retail premises.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has now confirmed that the fire is affecting the ground floor of the building.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using hose reel jets to tackle the flames and prevent the blaze from spreading.
