If your child is in year 6 of a primary or junior school, you will need to apply for a Year 7 place in a secondary school for September 2021 within the next month.
Year 7 admissions applications are open from Monday 14 September 2020 with the national application deadline being the 31 October 2020
I know i was surprised at how soon i had to apply for a space when my eldest was in Year 6.

You can find out which school is your catchment school, here, BUT you can apply for ANY school that you want to, choice the one which suits your child’s needs the best.
Your child’s primary school will send out letters with local secondary school open days, due to Covid restrictions school open days will be different this year.
The 3 main Secondary schools in Andover, Hampshire
- Harrow way community School. They will be holding a virtual open evening and mornings. The open evening will be on Tuesday 22 September 2020 and the open mornings will be held on Thursday 24 and Friday 25 September.The school website can be visited here for further details .
- John Hanson Community School. They will be holding a Virtual Open Evening 2020. Where there will be video addresses from the Headteacher and Head Prefects, along with a series of FAQs,they will be available to view from the 24th September. The school website can be visited here
- Winton Academy. The school website can be visited here. Awaiting for them to confirm details.
The national notification date for on-time applicants is 1 March 2021
Year R and 3 applications Applications open on 1 November 2020, we will share further details on this when applications open.
