Jamaican Kitchen is Back! Authentic Caribbean Flavours at SP Bar

A popular Caribbean eatery has returned to Andover’s food scene, with Jamaican Kitchen officially relaunching at SP Bar.

The business, owned and operated by Omar Coleman with the support of his partner, Magdalena Fulara, marked the occasion with a celebration on Saturday, 20th September.

Guests were welcomed with authentic Caribbean flavours, paired with a wide selection of drinks provided by SP Bar. The evening included a symbolic ribbon cutting led by Cllr Iris Andersen, who praised the reopening. She said:
“I had the pleasure of going to the Jamaican Kitchen on Saturday evening, and it was a great honour to have a taste of the Jamaican food that they are cooking. I wish them both well with their business.”

Omar, who was born in Jamaica and first learned to cook from his mother – herself a former restaurant owner – said the relaunch was a proud milestone.
“We had the great pleasure of celebrating the relaunch of our Jamaican Kitchen,” he said. “All of our food is freshly prepared and cooked by myself and an experienced Jamaican chef, ensuring the most authentic taste of the Caribbean right here in Andover.

“Thanks to our collaboration with SP Bar, you can now enjoy Jamaican dishes alongside a wide variety of soft and alcoholic drinks. We’re committed to using only fresh, authentic ingredients, offering generous portions at affordable prices – because good food should leave you satisfied, not hungry.”

He added: “I’m really excited to be doing this in a great town like Andover. Food is more than just a meal—it’s culture, it’s family, and it’s about bringing people together. We want to share the real taste of Jamaica with everyone.”

As part of the relaunch, Jamaican Kitchen has also introduced a new menu item: alongside its popular Honey Jerk Chicken Wings, customers can now try BBQ Spicy Wings and decide their favourite.

The eatery offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with dine-in and takeaway available. Opening hours are:

Food Service (order at the bar):

  • Wednesday & Thursday: 2pm – 10pm
  • Friday & Saturday: 2pm – 11pm

Drinks Service:

  • Wednesday & Thursday: 2pm – 10pm
  • Friday: 2pm – 1am
  • Saturday: Brunch (pre-booked) 3pm – 5pm, including a Jamaican food platter for two
  • Saturday Evening Drinks: 5pm – 1am

The relaunch comes after Jamaican Kitchen’s surprise temporary closure in August due to an unforeseen emergency.
