MILLETS: Not closing down

Millets Andover Not Closing Down
NOT CLOSING: Millets

Shoppers in Andover could be forgiven for thinking the Millets store is preparing pack up, shut up and leave town.

Signage outside the store claims “25% Off Closing Down Sale” and “All Stock Must Go” but Millets are not closing their store in Andover.

The store owned by JD Sports use large yellow and black signage to attract customers to their Warehouse Clearance sale where up to 25% off is offered.

Close inspection of the signage reveals the claim is “Warehouse Closing Down Sale”. We spoke to staff in the store today who confirmed that the store is not shutting, just taking part in a sale that’s offered across the national chain.

JD Sports is one of the strong high street retailers, they were one of the best performers nationally last year.

In short, it’s a rather unfortunate and perhaps unhelpful advertising strategy to get customers into their store to clear out winter stock before the summer.
