Most town centre shops may well be closed currently in lockdown 2 but that hasn’t deterred the spirit of Christmas from one independent business looking to spread the cheer in the town centre.
Mooch on Bridge Street has used the lockdown period to create an extravagant window display in preparation for when they reopen on the 3rd of December and to lift spirits in the town centre. The display was created by owner George Roberts and her team, whilst still fulfilling online orders through their online shop, and also had help from John Hanson community school.
George told 95.9FM Andover Radio “Although we always plan our Christmas Window well in advance, we felt that this year needed it to be really magical to lift everyone’s spirits in Andover. We love bringing a bit of sparkle to the High Street, Goodness knows it needs it! It’s been a very tough and difficult year for so many people and businesses, but we wanted to show that independent shops are very much still here, and working hard despite some being temporarily closed“
George opened Mooch in 2004 and the shop has been a constant in the town centre and is a well loved shop with the unique gifts and products that are displayed. Back in March when the first lockdown was on, George had to adapt her business to be able to sell online, which has been a brilliant way for her customers to be able to continue to buy from this fabulous independent shop.
George added “We have fantastic customers who have supported us through our website www.moochandover.com which has been very busy, and we have had some absolutely wonderful comments on our Facebook page @moochandover which keeps us going and we will hopefully reopen on December 3rd“
We look forward to many of the town centre shops reopening and for more Christmas window displays from other retailers.
