Volunteering: Test Valley Community Services

Volunteering is a rewarding exercise and a local volunteer service is showing record breaking numbers of people helping local organisations.

Test Valley Community Service (TVCS)’s Volunteer Centre recruited 445 volunteers last year, all of whom provide skills and time to support local organisations.

The charitable service based at Andover Bus Station says that since Monday (January 2nd 2018), 13 potential volunteers have already been in touch.

Their experienced Volunteer Centre staff provide a match making service which helps individuals who want to give their time and skills to the vast array of charities with community groups across the local area.

Regardless of skills or interests people may have, the TVCS Volunteer Centre is able to help.

As part of its future-proof sustainability strategy, TVCS will begin operating with the new name ‘Unity’ later this year and has recently launched Cardea, a new care at home service.

Groups who require volunteers or trustees, can also contact the charitable organisation to promote their own volunteering opportunities or discuss how best to recruit, induct and retain volunteers.

Christianne Ireland, Volunteer Co-ordinator said, “TVCS has over 25 years’ experience in recruiting volunteers across Romsey, Stockbridge and Andover areas.

We provide a personalised service to individuals and local organisations ensuring that they are perfectly matched.

Volunteering has health benefits too, so what better way for people to start the year by helping their local community and improving their health and wellbeing at the same time.

If you are thinking about becoming a volunteer or are a local group seeking new volunteers please visit www.tvcs.org.uk or contact Christianne Ireland on 0330 400 116.
