Royal British Legion Club to Welcome Veterans and Families After Andover Remembrance Service

The Royal British Legion Club in Andover will once again open its doors to veterans, serving military personnel, families and the wider community on Remembrance Sunday, 8 November, continuing a longstanding town tradition of remembrance, friendship and togetherness.

Following the town’s annual Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph, the Club on Western Road will welcome visitors from 12 noon for an afternoon dedicated to honouring those who have served their country and remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The event has become a familiar part of Andover’s Remembrance Sunday commemorations, offering an opportunity for people to come together after the solemn proceedings in the town centre.

Visitors will be treated to a free buffet and live entertainment from popular local performers The Covergirlz, with the Club remaining open throughout the afternoon.

The occasion is about more than simply gathering for food and entertainment. It provides an opportunity for veterans, serving personnel and members of the community to share stories, reflect on the sacrifices made by previous generations and enjoy the friendship that has long been at the heart of the Royal British Legion.

More Than a Century of History in Andover

The Royal British Legion has a proud and longstanding connection with Andover, dating back more than 100 years.

The Andover Branch was established in June 1921, just a few years after the end of the First World War, at a time when communities across Britain were coming together to support returning servicemen and remember those who had lost their lives.

The Club at its current location officially opened on 11 October 1969 and has remained an important meeting place for generations of veterans, members and local residents.

Today, the Club continues to uphold the values of remembrance, comradeship and community that have been central to the Legion’s work for more than a century.

A Community United in Remembrance

Remembrance Sunday remains one of the most significant dates in Andover’s civic calendar, bringing together veterans, serving members of the Armed Forces, local organisations, families and residents to pay their respects.

The gathering at the Royal British Legion Club provides an opportunity for that shared spirit of remembrance to continue beyond the formal service.

Organisers are encouraging veterans, serving personnel, members, their families and the wider community to join them for what promises to be a welcoming afternoon of reflection and togetherness.

The event takes place on Sunday 8 November 2026, with doors opening at 12 noon.

The Royal British Legion Club Andover is located at 4 Western Road, Andover, SP10 2JG, with entrance via Osborne Road.

The afternoon is open to the wider community, with a free buffet and live music from The Covergirlz.

As the town comes together to honour its fallen and recognise those who have served, the message from the Royal British Legion Club remains simple but powerful:

Together, we will remember them.
