Witness appeal made after attempted Andover High Street robbery

Andover High Street

Hampshire Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted street robbery in High Street, Andover last Friday.

It took place between 9.35am and 10am on Friday 23 February, near the Blue Onion Café.

A 40-year-old man was walking along High Street when another man barged into him and pulled at his laptop bag.

The victim was able to hold on to his bag and the other man, having fallen to the ground, ran away.

The man is described as being aged in his 40s, having a beard and wore a blue jacket with the hood up.

PC Bronwen Matthews-King said “This took place on a Friday morning when a lot of people would have been in the town centre. We want to hear from anyone who saw what happened.

In particular, we would like to hear from two males, believed to be customers at the café, who checked with the victim to see if he was ok. They may have seen what happened.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting 44180072297. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
