Youth Parliamentarian raises £375 for charities during COVID-19

Dmitrijs Meiksans, the Member of Youth Parliament (MYP) for North West Hampshire, has raised £375 during his charity livestream in June.

#TheBig12HourLivestream, live-streamed on the 20th June and hosted by Dmitrijs, saw the likes of Kit Malthouse MP, Caroline Nokes MP, Councillor Phil North and more being interviewed as money was being raised for multiple charities.

The beneficiaries of the money raised, the British Youth Council, Hampshire Youth Parliament, Unity, Andover Trees United and DMK Worldwide, will all be receiving their monies soon to help assist them to continue their work during this pandemic.

Dmitrijs said, “It was an amazing experience to have hosted something like this to raise money for the charities and youth organisations that need it most during this pandemic. I want to thank everyone who donated, shared and watched on the day and also would like to thank the inspirational people who came onto the livestream and allowed me to interview them.”

Cllr Phil North, a guest on #TheBig12HourLivestream and Leader of Test Valley Borough Council, said, “Well done to Dmitrijs for raising so much money for such terrific causes. It was my pleasure to take part. If Dmitrijs ever wants a job as a political interviewer – then I’m sure he’d give Andrew Neil a run for his money.”

The livestream accumulated over 700 views with 25 donors supporting the livestream, raising £375 for all the charities and youth organisations benefiting from the monies.
