The Abel Foundation is preparing to mark a major milestone next month as its 10th Anniversary Annual Ball brings together supporters for an evening of entertainment, celebration and fundraising.
Taking place on Saturday, 12 September 2026, the special anniversary event will celebrate a decade of The Abel Foundation and its work supporting families affected by mitochondrial disease.
With less than a month to go, tickets are still available for what organisers hope will be one of the charity’s biggest and most memorable annual balls yet.
The black-tie celebration will feature live music from local favourites Covergirlz Band, with Andover Radio and Love Andover presenter Ben Tuffin taking on the role of compère for the evening.
Guests will be welcomed with a drink on arrival before sitting down to a three-course meal, with a packed programme of entertainment planned throughout the night.
The charity’s popular auction will return, giving guests the opportunity to bid on a selection of prizes and experiences while helping to boost the fundraising total.
There will also be casino and craps tables, games, entertainment, surprises and goodie bags, with organisers promising plenty of laughs along the way.
Celebrating a decade of The Abel Foundation
This year’s ball carries additional significance as The Abel Foundation celebrates its tenth anniversary.
The Andover-based charity was established to support people affected by mitochondrial disease, a group of complex genetic disorders caused when mitochondria – responsible for producing much of the energy needed by the body’s cells – do not function properly.
Over the past decade, The Abel Foundation has worked to support families living with the impact of the condition while also helping to raise awareness of mitochondrial disease.
Its annual ball has become an important date in the charity’s fundraising calendar, bringing supporters together while generating vital funds to enable its work to continue.
The milestone celebration follows another successful year of fundraising for the organisation. In July, Music at the Manor in Andover raised £10,000 for The Abel Foundation, demonstrating the strength of local support for the charity.
The September ball will now provide another opportunity for the community to get behind the cause – this time while celebrating ten years of the organisation.
Organisers are encouraging groups of friends, families and businesses to attend, with guests able to book individual places or bring together a table for the evening.
They say the anniversary ball will be a chance not only to raise money, but to recognise everyone who has supported The Abel Foundation throughout its first decade.
With live music, food, dancing, casino tables and the charity auction all forming part of the celebrations, the evening promises plenty of glitz and glamour while keeping the charity’s work firmly at its heart.
