A taste of The Fat Duck comes to the former George Pub

Urban Genie Andover's Tony Beckett

Military veteran and former chef of 3-Michelin Star restaurant – Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck – Tony Beckett is preparing to launch a brand-new bistro in Andover town centre.

Having served in the military for over 20 years, Beckett has also catered functions for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip, as well as other members of the Royal Family.

Occupying the long-vacant building on George Yard where former pub The George Inn once stood, Beckett’s new bar & bistro, Urban Genie, is anticipated to breathe new life into Andover – bringing an innovative dining experience to the High Street.

Tony Beckett said of his forthcoming venture “I can’t deny that I’ve experienced a lot of challenges in bringing Urban Genie to Andover, but I’ve also had an overwhelming amount of support for this new venture. Andover is a wonderful town, with a close-knit community, and I hope everyone is as excited as I am to see this new venture thrive.

Urban Genie is an innovative and contemporary coffee shop, bar, and bistro selling everything from breakfast, handcrafted cakes, and hot drinks during the day, to sumptuous 3 course meals in the evening.
