It’s the final weeks leading up to the biggest High Street event of the year in Andover … the Christmas Lights Switch-on from 5pm – 7.30pm on Friday 16 November.

Make a date in your diary now so that you don’t miss out on the party! Sponsored by Basepoint, this is THE event of the year! The Big TV screen will once again grace the High Street to make sure that you don’t miss anything that is going on, and there will be lots to see!

Father Christmas will be stopping by on the night, and the stage will play host to a range of local performers including the Vigo School Choir, Fair Play Performing Arts, Stagecoach Andover, Kate Stevens and Sing for Fun.

Andover Radio will compère the evening, and there will be rides and attractions, children’s face painting, stilt walking reindeers and lots of delicious food to keep you warm in the countdown to Christmas.

The evening will culminate in the Christmas Lights switch on at 7.30pm followed by a grand firework display provided by The Chantry Centre, with the Christmas tree and lights from the Andover Town Council.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Phil North, said: “The Andover Christmas Lights Switch On is one of the premier family friendly events in Andover’s calendar, and marks the beginning of festivities for the High Street.

This is the perfect example of local organisations working in collaboration with Test Valley Borough Council to put on an event which showcases Andover at its best.”

Visitors are asked to please note that due to the popularity of the Christmas Lights Switch and the volume of people on the evening, the lane from The George Yard car park towards the High Street will be closed from 5.30pm for the duration of the event.

This hotly anticipated annual event is brought to you by Test Valley Borough Council, Andover Town Council, Andover Vision and The Chantry Centre, and is sponsored by Basepoint and hosted by Andover Radio.
