Bar Hosts Andover’s First ‘Fralentine’s’ Event

The Gin Palace is celebrating Valentine’s in a different way this year, with a special friendship-themed event on Thursday 15th February from 7pm.

Fralentines is a term used when friends find themselves alone on St Valentine’s Day.  During a week when bars and restaurants open their doors to couples celebrating love, the Gin Palace in Winchester Street has invited local residents to come along and raise a glass or two to celebrate friendship instead.

The Gin Palace is a 17th century coaching inn set in the heart of Andover from where Kate Griffin owner at Wessex Spirits makes her high-quality, local gin.  It’s a friendly venue that hosts popular hand-crafted gin tastings and fun cocktail masterclasses too.

This special free event is open to anyone in and around Andover.

Speaking about the event, Kate said:

“I recognise that not everyone is in a relationship around Valentine’s Day andI believe that Valentine’s should be a time when friendship is celebrated just as much as love.  You don’t need a ticket. Bring along your pals, partners and even your pets.  Yes, we are dog friendly, although we’re sorry to say they won’t be allowed a cocktail!

“At the Gin Palace, we are always friendly and the whole point is that anyone can pop in to celebrate their friends or even make some new ones!”

Doors open at 7pm and Kate’s popular Hibiscus and Elderberry Valentine’s Gin will be available to try on the night, along with an array of other hand-crafted gins, vodkas and rum.

Gin Palace Bar Manager Vikki said:

“We look forward to seeing some new faces popping by to have fun and even try some of our delicious cocktails and mocktails on the night.”
