Work has started on a £3.6m expansion of the Countess of Brecknock Hospice in Andover to provide a new two storey, 10 bedroom building.

Working to designs by Hampshire based Morse Webb Architects, Amiri Construction will be at the site located at the War Memorial Community Hospital until October 2019.

Mark Vincent, Director at Amiri, helped many of the professional and dedicated hospice team and volunteers launch the start of the project that will provide new two storey 10 bedroom building on the 1,260m² site bordering the existing facilities with an enclosed connection between the new and old buildings.

The company say they will implement a full considerate construction programme during their time on the site.

Dr Lara Alloway, medical director at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said “We are delighted that work has begun on the expansion of the Countess of Brecknock Hospice, and are looking forward to continuing to work with our partners at the Hospice Trust at this exciting time to continue to provide outstanding end of life care for the community in Andover.

“A huge amount of work has been involved in getting to this stage and I want to thank everyone who has been a part of that, whether through fundraising or behind the scenes.
