David Baddiel brings three different shows to Andover this October!

Author, screenwriter, columnist, television presenter, and comedian David Baddiel has performed across the globe during his 30-plus-year career.

He has published over a dozen books both fiction and non-fiction to critical acclaim. He returned to stand-up shows ten years ago, with the shows that he will be showcasing as Work in Progress shows at The Lights this year, in preparation for recording all three as specials with a yet unnamed broadcaster.

The three shows will be an exciting chance to see one of the UK’s most recognizable comics in an up close and personal setting at The Lights. The last time he performed any of the shows was on London’s West End for 15 weeks in 2016, and a separate tour in 2020 and 2021.

Although smaller than some of the West Ends larger theatres, the 249-seater auditorium in Andover packs a punch. When Baddiel enters the stage in October, he’ll be performing Fame: Not the Musical, My Family: Not the Sitcom, and Trolls: Not the Dolls across three nights this autumn. The first delves into Baddiel’s career in which he examines his strange relationship with the “New Lad/Token Jew/comedy rock’n’roller/football singer-songwriter” persona he’s co-existed with for 30 years.

The second night is My Family: Not the Sitcom. A West End, Olivier-nominated smash-hit, the show is a massively disrespectful celebration of the lives of David Baddiel’s late mother, Sarah and dementia-ridden father, Colin.

The final Work-in-Progress will feature Trolls: Not the Dolls in which David tells stories of the dark, terrible, and hysterically absurd cyber-paths that interacting with internet trolls has led him down.

He is about to embark on a short run of the same shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August. So, for the people of Andover and surrounding villages, they’ll see a star of UK comedy who has done it all. With award-winning shows in the past, it is almost a guarantee that visitors will walk away with their money well spent. There is also a Package Deal option for avid comedy fans who want to see each show across the three nights, with a discounted rate if all three are booked at the same time.

Those looking to book can do so by calling The Lights Box Office on 01264 368368 or alternatively in person, The Lights, West Street, Andover, SP10 1AH. Or online at www.thelights.org.uk
