Wednesday 28th March saw Shaun Barker complete an epic cycling challenge, in aid of Enham Trust.
Shaun, a resident at one of Enham Trust’s residential care homes, set himself an 8-week cycling challenge where he hoped to cycle 75 kilometres (47 miles) using an adaptable static exercise bike, the exact distance from Enham Trust all the way to his family’s home in Gosport. Shaun managed to achieve this distance with the support of Hobbs Rehabilitation at Enham Trust in the first 6 weeks of the challenge, with his final total reaching just over a mammoth 100km!
The finale saw Shaun’s friends, family and staff at Enham Trust come together to cheer him on for the last 3km of his challenge where a celebration was held for Shaun. He was even joined for the last leg of his journey by other residents of the Trust who used a similar static bike to accompany him on the final stretch.
Donations on the day had reached £517 (far surpassing his original target of £200) with further donations coming in after the event and now reaching £677! Funds raised will support the Physiotherapy Services at Enham Trust, including maintaining its accessible bike which Shaun has enjoyed cycling on.
