‘Test Valley Tales’ is one of Test Valley Arts Foundation‘s Borough of Culture Legacy Projects.
Amanda Kane-Smith who runs and owns Merryground storytelling, tells us, “I am thrilled to have been awarded an Arts Council Grant for ‘Test Valley Tales’ which will be one of Test Valley Arts Foundation’s Borough of Culture Legacy Projects. For ‘Test Valley Tales’ I will be writing and creating an illustrated Book of Short Stories, a Podcast and School’s Storytelling workshops. All will be based on 10 stories which will be linked to 10 locations in the borough of Test Valley, and aims to show Test Valley as an area rich in stories and culture with some great places of interest for families to visit.
The stories will be a combination of re-imagining local folk tales and legends, as well as creating new stories for the future.
I’m excited to be working with local artists, Maija Liepins and Susan Merrick who will be producing the illustrations for the book and musician/composer, Paul Sartin who will be involved with the music for the podcast. We hope there will be lots of community involvement with the project. “
The Book and podcast are both set for release this Summer 2021.
