Shining for the Hospice: 10@10 Late Night Walk Lights Up Andover

On Saturday, 22 June, nearly 160 enthusiastic walkers lit up the night for the Countess of Brecknock Hospice 10@10 Late Night Walk.

This unique event, starting at 10pm and offering participants the opportunity to walk either five or ten miles around Andover, brought together individuals, teams, and families of all ages in a vibrant display of neon, fluorescent, and flashing accessories.

Lyndsey Eaton, whose mum was looked after by the hospice last year, said “After losing two amazing ladies in our lives in July and December 2023 we wanted to give something back to the amazing hospice and the staff that work there. The care and support they showed to both Lenie and Triena in their last days and our families was incredible and we will be forever grateful.”

Michele Gard, Director of the Hospice Charitable Trust, shared her excitement about the event: “It was a fantastic evening with a great atmosphere. Many participants walked in memory of loved ones, wanting to ensure that care is available for others who need it. We lit up the night and shone for the hospice, which is such an amazing facility for our local community.”

The 10@10 walk is a vital fundraiser for the hospice, with this year’s event expected to raise at least £25,000 through walkers’ sponsorships. Harrow Way Community School graciously hosted the event, and Stitch-A-Logo generously donated the T-shirts, Dunnings Funeral Directors for supplying our walkers water and Tesco Andover for supplying snacks for our walkers, allowing even more funds to go directly to supporting hospice services.
