Owners of the Andover Leisure Centre have launched a new initiative in conjunction with Test Valley Borough Council, local schools and foodbanks, issuing 100 free family swimming vouchers across Test Valley.

Sixty vouchers have been distributed through the Hampshire school networks by Places Leisure in Andover and Romsey with an additional 40 being distributed through Andover Foodbank.

Supported by Cllr Iris Andersen, the initiative aims to bring fun fitness experiences to families that may not be able to afford these activities during the summer holidays.

Places Leisure say they are passionate about embedding fitness and healthy lifestyles into the local community and they see this scheme as another opportunity to enable local families to achieve this.

Cllr Iris Andersen added, “It’s great to have the support of Places Leisure’s local centres to support communities and families in accessing leisure activities. We hope to see as many families as possible enjoying being active this summer.

“This initiative will help those that wouldn’t ordinarily be able to afford swimming during the holidays due to the financial pressures there are under to take part and have fun.”

The limited number of vouchers are redeemable at the new Andover Leisure Centre and at the Romsey Rapids during the summer holidays.

Contract Manager for Places Leisure Danny Churcher said, “We are pleased to be able to help those families in the community that need support and we look forward to seeing them at the centres over the holiday period being active and having a great time.”
