Today ( 22 May 2021) about 10 local people gathered in Andover town park to march in solidarity to mark the anniversary of the one year anniversary of the George Floyd murder.
Before setting off on the March they listened to some motivational speakers, including Lud Ramsey, who is best know for being on the TV shows, ‘Ninja UK Warriors’ and Gladiators.
We spoke to Kate from Stand Together Andover who shared, ” The Black Curriculum are working closely with John Hanson school after our fundraising campaign, which will reach 500 children, We will encourage more local schools to work with the Black Curriculum to recognise the importance of a diverse and fair education. The conversation of anti racism, white privilege and institutionalisaised racism continues via our social media groups, marches and other STA events. We are also aware that mental health support and a safe place for our black community to reach out to is so important. Movements are intergenerational and we reach out to all like minded people to unite carry the movement forward. We speak our truth and from our hearts.“
