The Christmas Day lunch is organised by Andover Churches Together and has been going for many years in different venues. This year it will be in the United Reform Church hall in East Street, Andover.
Anyone who would otherwise be on their own for Christmas Day is invited to enjoy lunch with others and transport is arranged for those who need it to and from the event. Obviously everyone needs to book in advance so they can plan.
Anyone is welcome to come along as a volunteer. Even children particularly if they are old enough to be able to help with, for example, serving and clearing tables. For volunteers the day is from 11.30 to 4.00pm with the guests arriving around 12.15 and going home at 3.15.
They always need people who can drive to help with getting people to the venue and back as well as a couple of kitchen helpers and washers up and people who can act as table hosts – these hosts eat lunch with the guests but also ensure that everyone has what they need and that everyone gets to know each other on that table.
