Andover’s Christmas Star: Megan Williams

Andover Christmas Lights Big Screen Radio

We are pleased to announce that Megan Williams will be switching on this year’s Christmas Lights in Andover High Street.

We asked young people around Andover to write a festive poem, the winning entry – chosen by David Mellor Family Jewellers – will have the chance to be this year’s Christmas Lights on Friday 15th November.

Megan is in Class 4CA at Portway Junior School and was called by Andover Radio DJ Craig Hicks this afternoon to give her the good news. Her poem ‘Santa’s Angels are Calling’ was this year’s winner.

With a special message about spending time with family at Christmas, excited 9-year old Megan said, “My favourite thing about Christmas is to have all my family around to celebrate it with me.”

She will now be invited to Andover Radio’s studios to record her poem, which will be made in to a short film, shown on the BIG TV in the High Street next week before she presses the ‘big on switch’.

With over 150 entries, and such great quality poems, the Andover Radio DJ’s have decided they also want to choose their own favourites, these will then be broadcast on Saturday next week.
