Get ready to take part in THE biggest event of the year … the Christmas Lights Switch-on, Friday 15 November!

Make a date in your diary now so that you don’t miss out on the party!  Brought to you by Test Valley Borough Council and sponsored by David Mellor Jewellers, the Andover Christmas Lights Switch On is one of the biggest community evenings of the year. The Big TV screen will once again grace the High Street to make sure that you don’t miss anything that is going on, and there will be lots to see!

Father Christmas will be stopping by on the night, and the stage will play host to a range of local performers including the Andover Rock Choir, local singer Rosie Merritt and Long Overdue Theatre School.

Luke Shearer – front man of local group Funkline and local boy Luis Wyatt from Andover Radio will compère the evening, and there will be rides and attractions, children’s face painting and lots of delicious food to keep you warm in the countdown to Christmas.

The evening will culminate in the Christmas Lights switch on at 7.30pm followed by a grand firework display provided by The Chantry Centre, with the Christmas tree and lights from the Andover Town Council.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Phil North, said: “If you want to enjoy a great family evening which showcases the best of the local talented artists and school children and is topped off with a stunning firework display, then this is the evening for you.

“The Switch On is more than just the chance to party; it also helps to support local businesses and traders in and around the High Street and raises the profile of the town in a very positive way; showcasing Andover at its best.”

Visitors are asked to please note that due to the popularity of the Christmas Lights Switch and the volume of people on the evening, the lane from The George Yard car park towards the High Street will be closed from 5.30pm for the duration of the event.

This hotly anticipated annual event is brought to you by Test Valley Borough Council, Andover Town Council, Andover Vision and The Chantry Centre, and is sponsored by David Mellor Jewellers.
