Star Wars and its characters are the inspiration for a new generation of children to get active this summer and ‘Train like a Jedi.’
Hampshire County Council is supporting this Public Health England initiative which uses Jedi-themed moves to encourage children to be ready for when the Resistance might need them!
Councillor Patricia Stallard, Executive Member for Public Health at Hampshire County Council, said “I am delighted that Hampshire schools and families will have the opportunity to Train Like A Jedi over the summer.
“Being physically active has a positive impact on children’s self esteem and emotional wellbeing, as well as their physical health. The programme is designed to motivate kids to keep active during the long summer holiday. Parents and carers can start their children playing straight away by searching Train Like a Jedi or looking out for packs in their child’s school bag.”
The activity programme features a fun play-along video starring British Taekwondo athlete and double Olympic gold medallist Jade Jones, who alongside a special appearance from BB-8, the cutest droid in the galaxy, leads kids through a series of Jedi-inspired moves.
Combined together, the 12 moves become one special Jedi training routine that helps children learn and master six key skills – technique, strength, stamina, speed, agility and mastery – whilst having fun.
