BID continues to support businesses as grants paid automatically

SP Bar Andover

Following recent Government guidance and the road map out of lockdown, Andover BID is working closely with businesses in the town to ensure that they are ready for re-opening.

Part of Andover BID’s business support is to ensure a wide range of support is available, so that businesses are ready to adapt to the changing environment, the challenges and opportunities for the rest of this year and in 2022.

SP Bar at the bottom of Bridge Street is just one of the businesses who has benefited recently from the some of the support that Andover BID has provided.

Steph Pledge, owner of the SP Bar says, “It has been a tough time for us and for all businesses that rely on footfall and customers.

“We have used the lockdown time wisely and as a relatively new business to Andover with an exciting and new concept for the town.

“Steve & Andy have been extremely helpful and their marketing support invaluable. We also benefit from Pubwatch, the radio system and the recently introduced Shopwatch App and have been pleased with the Premises Improvement Grant Scheme enabling us to make improvements to our building”.

Steve Godwin, Andover BID manager says, “We have been operating throughout the lockdown period and supporting businesses in a number of different ways depending on their particular sector. Inevitably, most businesses have found it tough and we have supported them in developing their businesses where possible to be able to adapt to the changes that are necessary for the high street to prosper.

“Andover is fortunate to be a relatively Safe, easy & enjoyable place to visit and with easy access, low cost car parking and over 100 town centre independent businesses, we have much to be proud of. We are looking forward to welcoming people back to the town in line with government opening up again.”

Steve’s comments come as the BID confirmed that Andover businesses who applied for a Local Restrictions Support Grant (for the period covering 16th February to 31st March 2021) will be paid automatically once funding has been received from government.

Those who have previously applied need not do so again. However, businesses that have not applied can still do so if they meet the eligibility criteria. The amounts are upto £4,714 for premises with a rateable value over £51,000.

To coincide with the spring weather, the new and very attractive town centre Riverside park reopening, Andover BID will launch a PR campaign to promote all that is good about the town.

Their specific package of support for businesses can be accessed through the BID website.
