Busy time ahead for Andover BID

Andover BID Manager Steve Godwin

This morning, Steve Godwin, the manager of the Andover Business Improvement District, spoke to Andover Radio and shared his pleasure at seeing businesses in Andover’s town centre open once again.

He said, “It’s just a week since many of our town centre businesses have opened again after months of lockdown.

“Although essential businesses were able to open during the pandemic, from last Monday 17th May, indoor facilities for pubs, restaurants and cafes opened again.

“Of course, in town this means that our cafes such as, Boswells, The Grilled Cheese Café, The Blue Onion, and others have been busy. Pubs including The Globe, The Station Inn, The White Hart, the Angel, The Foresters, The Town Mills and The Angel are all open again.

“Tot City, the indoor entertainment centre for children is open, as is the museum, the Sport Centre and the swimming pool, Riverside Leisure with its bowling facilities opened on Thursday and the Odeon Cinema is also open.

“Businesses tell me how pleased that they are, not only to be open again but the way local people have supported them by coming back sensibly, booking in, or scanning the QR code or completing a register and being patient as it just takes a little longer to ensure that everyone is safe.

“And of course, next week is a Bank Holiday and half-term so don’t forget to book early wherever you want to go because it is likely to be busy.

We have our first car boot sale in the High Street on Bank Holiday Monday and there is entertainment and fun for the children as well so come along to that if you can, full details on the InAndover and Love Andover websites.

The Andover Business Improvement District (BID) encourages businesses in the high street area to work together for the benefit of the town, it’s businesses and its customers. The BID runs the Andover Rangers and ShopWatch initiatives.
