Andover BID Business News Christmas

Christmas window winners announced!

Pennies and Mooch are joint winners in the town’s Christmas Window Competition.

For the first time, the Christmas Window Competition has ended in a draw. Local independent shops Mooch and Pennies shared first place with Celebration Cube as Runner up.

The competition, organised by InAndover from Andover BID, runs from early December to just before Christmas and members of the public were able to vote online and in person via a post box in the library. We also had a ‘strictly style’ judging panel, thanks go to Cllr Phil North, Cllr Iris Anderson, Love Andover’s Ben Tuffin and BID Chair, Ange Moon.

This year 21 local traders dressed their windows with a variety of Christmas designs and themes and nearly 1000 people cast a vote for their favourite window. BID Manager Steve Godwin said, “It was a record number of business entries this year, and we’d like to give a huge thank you to all of the businesses for their enthusiasm and involvement and making Andover a little more Christmassy, also to the judges, and to all the people who took time to vote for their favourite business.”

Georgina owner of Mooch said “We love being part of this competition and are pleased to share the win with Pennies this year! It’s lovely that people get behind us and get involved in this yearly competition. We’d like to donate our share of the money to the charity of Pennies choosing”

Penny of Pennies said “I’d like to thank my lovely friend Janet who kindly did all the knitting for me and helped me create ‘Marigold’s Window’. I would like to thank all of the customers who kindly voted for Pennies and would like to give the money that has been donated by Andover BID to the Dog’s Trust.”
