Queen Charlotte: Fundraising

A fundraising dinner is being held at a local pub, to raise funds for people with chronic and terminal illnesses.

The 3-course meal and music event will be at The Queen Charlotte Inn on London Road and will raise funds for the QC Foundation.  The charitable group was set-up to help local people affected by chronic and terminal illnesses, with items and support that the NHS do not provide.

The meal will be prepared by the team of chefs at the London Road pub with live music and entertainment provided by local singer-songwriter Alex Krupa and musician Ross Horan.

Tickets are available for £35 per person.  Landlady Vicki Thorp says, “I have had the idea of running a charitable organisation for years, I want to help real people and families.

“Through events and fundraising at The Queen Charlotte and the White Hart in Penton Mewsey, we have raised over £3,000. Thank you to everyone who’s contributed”.

The QC Foundation recently helped the family of Spastic Quadriplegic 14-year old Stacie Stroud who also suffers from Cerebral Palsy.  The QC Foundation recently raised an £800 donation towards a  Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle, enabling better mobility for Stacie and her family.

Other donations have been made to 3-year old Emily Rose, who suffers Retts Syndrome to enable her family to by her a specially adapted buggy.  Rett syndrome is a rare life limiting disorder, affecting 1 in 12000 girls.

Vicki adds, “We’re always looking to give away the money we have raised and if you know anyone in need in a little extra support during their terminal or chronic illness, please do just get in touch.

“We are able to help with equipment costs, travel fees, prescription charges and a wealth of other things in between.”

Anyone wishing to join the event on Saturday July 28th at 8:00pm can contact the Queen Charlotte on 01264 or visit the QC Foundation Facebook page.

The local pub will also be holding a free ‘Andover Fun Day’ in their grounds on Saturday 21st July.
