The Hampshire Association of Local Councils (HALC) and Fuller’s Brewery are looking for the 2018 Hampshire Village of the Year.
Entries are invited from any parish council, community group or group of individuals representing their community to take on the current holders of Village of the Year, Liss. The 2018 Prize Giving will take place in Liss on 25th September 2018.
Entries are free and will need to be submitted by Tuesday 31st July and can be submitted by any village organisation.
Full details on entering will be available on the Village of the Year page at www.hampshire-alc.gov.uk, but simply you just submit a narrative with appropriate photographs and your contact details to sue.ramge@eastleigh.gov.uk to be considered as a Finalist.
Finalists are then visited for two hours by the Judges, before final marking.
As well as judging for the overall Village of the Year, Best Small Village and Inspirational Individual, the following categories will be considered in the marking schedule:
- Best Parish Council Community Engagement Project
- Best Open Spaces and Recreational Project
- The Pub as a Community Hub or other economic-related project
- Best Village Feature

Judging for Finalists will take place in respective villages during August.
County Organiser since 2006 Steven Lugg said, “Hampshire and the Island both have a fine tradition in this competition, and the Hampshire Association of Local Councils is pleased to continue supporting it. The Competition supports communities coming together and celebrating the many positive aspects of local life that we all enjoy.”
There were no winners from around Andover last year – hopefully this year will see entries and some winners!
