Just the cut for Ark Hair Design in the High Street

High Street hairdressers, Ark Hair Design, received their second snip of Test Valley Borough Council’s £1,000 Independent Retailer Grant, marking a successful year for the business.

Andover (St Marys), ward member, Councillor Iris Andersen presented the second £500 instalment to acknowledge the unisex salon’s continued trading.

Gerald Kingsley, owner of Ark Hair Design at 7 High Street, Andover, said: “I thought that a business in Andover town centre would be a great investment and the salon has gone from strength to strength. This year has flown by, Ark Hair Design has a good network of repeat customers and new clients through word of mouth recommendations. Thank you for the support from my loyal customers and to Test Valley Borough Council for the grant which is a significant sum for my new business.”

Councillor Iris Andersen said: “Gerald Kingsley, of Ark Hair Design, pursued his dream of owning his own business and has been a cut above with the investment in new equipment, fittings and decoration. I’m delighted to present this grant to Ark Hair Design and wish him continued success.”

Recipients of the £1,000 grant receive £500 after three months of trading and a further £500 six months later. To be eligible for the grant, new or existing independent businesses must occupy a town centre ground floor unit which has been vacant for at least one month. Qualifying businesses include shops, restaurants and cafes.
